Carlos Manrique De Lara, MD, FACS, is the Medical Director of Woodlands Custom Vision and Manrique Custom Vision Center, where he provides an array of advanced vision correction procedures. A widely recognized authority on refractive surgery, Dr. Manrique De Lara has successfully performed thousands of vision correction procedures on professional athletes, politicians and his own family members. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center and a trainer for Intralase, Wavelight and Ziemer technologies.

Dr. Manrique De Lara offers the advanced “no-stitch” cataract surgery, during which the eye's cataract-diseased lens is extracted and replaced with a high-tech implant for clearer vision. Intraocular lens implants (IOLs) are designed to restore vision at most distances, often greatly reducing the need for glasses or contact lenses. For his Rio Grande Valley cataract surgery patients, Dr. Manrique De Lara offers a range of IOLs, including AcrySof ReSTOR, which can also be used to treat presbyopia (age-related loss of reading vision).

Carlos Manrique De Lara, MD, FACS, has completed nine years of advanced postgraduate training. After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree, he served his medical internships at Harbor Hospital Center in Baltimore, Maryland, and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Manrique De Lara then studied neurology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and neuro-ophthalmology at Michigan State University. He is an acclaimed educator in the field of ophthalmology and has served as an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University and the Scott & White Clinic. Dr. Manrique De Lara is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.
